This website was created by David Richard. Born in 1977 in Le Havre, France, David Richard is a highly regarded pianist, examiner, teacher and author whose career spans continents. He studied with some of the most respected piano pedagogues in Paris and London, including Denis Pascal, Neil Immelmann, John Blakely and Yonti Solomon and graduated from the Royal College of Music in 2003. He has performed and adjudicated internationally, with engagements across Europe, the United States and throughout Asia including Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and India. As an educator, David Richard has dedicated several decades to teaching in prestigious schools and conservatoires across France, England and the United Arab Emirates. Since 2018, he has served as an examiner for Trinity College London and has contributed compositions and resources now widely used by students and teachers around the world.
He is the founder of Just Play! Piano, a series of books designed to provide structure and
inspiration between exams and concerts. In 2021, he published Daily Drills: 100 Exercises to Master Note Reading on the Piano, a user-friendly resource praised for its clarity and structure. The book has proven especially helpful for adult beginners and returning learners seeking a gentle, accessible refresher.
David Richard is also the creator of Musical Pairs, a memory card game in which players try to match musical notes. Fun and educational, the game offers a playful way to reinforce note recognition and memory.
He runs an online teaching studio and welcomes international students for virtual lessons. In-person lessons are also available in Central London.
